My Odyssey has an urgent need for an alignment and tire rotation. My CV joint is also near end of live. Can I stagger these repairs or will an alignment have to be redone when the CV joint is replaced?

Why is an alignment and tire rotation urgent?
I would say if you're replacing shocks/springs you need to get an alignment done, but not after doing a cv joint since the knuckle goes back in the exact same position it was in before.

I'd replace both boots first due to partial shocks disassembly.

Then do the alignment and all. Could be done together but in mentioned order.

With the cost of reman cv axles it's not really worth the labor to just replace the boots unless you're flat broke.

To the op.. Most of the time CV axle replacement doesn't affect alignment but google some how-tos before you rely on that. Personally I would do CV first, then alignment.

What makes you think they're at the end of their life?

The vehicle has 110,000 miles on it and I have been warned by mechanics that the boot is cracked and that eventually it will start slinging grease and fail (albeit with a fair bit of noisy warning). I know the writing is on the wall, but I see no rush to change them until they start to go.

when i bought my wagon about 4 years ago, both cv boots were split clear through. i drove it 5400 miles across country, figuring i would change out the axles after the trip. that was about 3.5 years ago, and im finally getting around to changing them out. they are truly bad now, but there has been about 30k put on the bad ones so far.
