Cutting tracks with GarageBand

I received a brand new MIDI-to-USB cable last night in preparation to hook up my electronic drumset to my Mac.

Plugged in the cable and fired up GarageBand... and it worked perfectly. Literally could not be easier.

One thing I noticed - When I hit record, it will start a new "track?" on my instruments bar. For instance, if I hit record, play for a minute, stop, then hit record again, I will have two separate instances of recording on my one instrument track.

I am able to freely delete individual instances of the recordings, but I can't chop up a single one into smaller pieces (ie I dont know how).

Last night I played for a while and wanted to trim off the first half of my recording but wasn't able to... Anyone know if this is possible?

Grab the edge of your track and drag to trim it. Grab in the middle and drag to move it in the timeline.
