Cutting PSU cables for better cooling?

I'd like to clear up some space in my case, and there's so many power cables coming out of my PSU that I don't use. Good or stupid idea? How can I safely do it if I can do it?

No reason you couldn't, so long as you sealed the ends on the red and yellow wires (5v and 12v pos) so they didn't accidentally short to any case grounds.

Only thing is... what if you decide to add another drive or 2 later on down the line...? You'd really be kicking yourself.
