Is a Dremel rotary tool suitable for cutting holes in cases for fans? If so, what attachment to use and how best to do it?

Dremel sounds like it would take a while :(

I use a plasma cutter or a hole saw if it's the right sized thing.

Here's a nice page on how to cut holes..... Dremel cutting guide

Took me about 2 hours and 2 cutting wheels to make a 11 1/4" X 14" (2 3/4" round corners) window for my Enlight case. ;)

I used tin snips for the main circle, and then a dremel and filer for cleanup.

Then the grill mesh on top of that, or air filter, or even a speaker grill.

A dremel works, but you'll snap quite a few discs. I did design work in AutoCAD and then sent my specs and case to a metal shop that's equipped with laser cutting devices.

I use a bi-metal hole saw attached to my drill for cutting blowholes. Works great everytime.

I used a jig saw, covered the case in that area with masking tape to keep from scratching the finish. Hole saws are fast and clean, but I didn't feel like putting out the money for something I will seldom use.

BobSnob: I forgot to mention, be sure you wear safety glasses or goggles.

Hi, Darren. Are you modding your own case or someone elses? ;)

I used a dremel for my two blowholes in my enlight 7237. cut just inside the circle with the circular blade, then rounded it out with the stone bits. took a while, but came out nice.

Dan -
my case is already swiss cheese ;)

i was poppin a 92mm in my dads side panel. for a front grille i drilled out a neat Windows logo using drillbits of different sizes to make different size holes - kinda like pixel art. (drillbit art!) i might do a 92mm blowhole too just to top it off :D
hes gonna love it ;)

It's not a problem using a Dremel, but make sure you use the reinforced wheels, not the standard wheels (unless you want to go through about ten of them)

1st moddage will commence in one week after information is gathered.
