Cutting a Case?

I am considering putting a window in the side of my daughter's case. What tools do I need? How hard do I have to work to screw it up?

Can anyone point me to an online tutorial with lotsa purty pictures on doing this?

I don't want to try anything fancy like cutting out odd shapes, I just want it to look professionally finished when I am done. Advice please.
 
Are there kits to make the attached window look good? It seems to me that a properly designed 'border' around the window could cover up a multitude of sins. I really want this job to look clean for my daughter.
