So I walk up to the register at the local parts store and noticed something out of place... the regular grimy ASE certified mechanics had been replaced with two cute ~18yr old girls! While the more attractive girl actually fit the part (tough looking, not in a T2 Linda Hamilton way but rather shy and innocent but knows how to take care of herself... that and I later realized she knew her auto parts), the other girl was ditzy and had mastered the art of valley girl speek, "...oh my god... and then, I was like.... ya know... so he was like... it was so like....like ya know?" I didn't notice any "ASE" patch on her shirt :/

manager - you can chat with her later, help our customer first
ditzy girl - can I help you? (big smiles)
me - I'd like to buy some spark plugs for an '88 T-bird
ditzy girl - (still smiling big) ok, what year is it?
me - ...it's an '88 :/
me - (knowing what was coming next) it's the 302 V8
ditzy girl - ok, let me get them!
(she skips off and comes back with plugs)
ditzy girl - here are all 4 plugs... you only needed 4 right?
me - no, I think this time I'll do the whole motor... (blank stare from girl)... so I'll need 8.

Behind me I could hear another customer chuckling :D

ditzy girl - oh, well we only have 7. Let me get all 7 for you.
me - thanks, but I'll pass on the plugs


I think I hurt that poor girl's feelings... I mean she really wanted to sell me some plugs.

I have NEVER bought spark plugs for a 302 that didn't come in boxes of 4. How the hell did she only have 7?

yes haveing young pretty girls do help a place sale more stuff. but in a auto parts store? i would rather have someone who knows wtf they are talking about.

That's what I was thinking. Same engine as my Crown Vic, and I just bought 2 boxes (4 in each) a few weeks ago.

That's interesting...maybe it's a test by the management to see if cute, perky and ignorant girls make up for the fat, rude but knowledgable regular mechanics working the desk.

next time I would try and be NICE to the pretty girl. Thats how one MIGHT be able to get a DATE (at least I think thats how I remember it working.)

Except there it hurts sale because no teenage male wants the hot chick to see him buying Star Wars games.
