The laser mowing system cuts the grass almost silently and much more finely
than any existing blade or flail system. It is also extremely accurate, trimming
the lawn to the set cutting height with a resolution of one millimeter (the cut is
controlled by a camera linked to an onboard computer). The grass is
chopped into tiny particles and dried before being applied back to the lawn,
where it acts as a fertilizer. The tiny dry particles that fall on the lawn cannot
give rise to thatch and do not foster lawn diseases, which are generally
promoted by prolonged rotting. Since grass has an 80% water content, the
drying operation also significantly reduces the cuttings' volume. What I liked is
that the laser power is specially adjusted to cut only through grass stalks
whilst remaining safe for other plants, bushes and anything else more
consistent which might be exposed to it.
