Customizing Damn Small Linux

DSL is pretty much a dead product. You'll likely have better luck finding information on customizing TinyCore, which is a fork of DSL. Fonts and wallpaper should be easy though. Just install the fonts and wallpaper you like. You could even install different window managers, but you might have to compile them yourself. I don't know what's available in the repos.
