I would like to customize the actual Luna XP theme that is the windows default. There are two files, Luna.theme and Luna.msstyles. these files hold the default settins that are loaded with every new account. I would like to change it. I tried modifying the theme and saving it in place of Luna by the same name and even delete Luna, rename my favorite theme to Luna and place it in the default location. but every time the original file was restored. So I would like to know how to change the default setup such that it would actualy stick and would be default with all new accounts. Things I want to change is the default clasik start menue with XP style buttons and never hide IE my computer, and my documents icons in any view, no screen saver, and have the icons including the recycle bin in a specific order in the upper left corner of the desktop. Also I want default resolution to be 1024x768 instead of 800x600 but that may have to do with something other then the Luna files.

Thanks

I think the actual theme files are protected by Windows. I'm not sure how you can modify the default skin of windows, but you can use this spiffy program to change themes. You could make a theme and use this to apply it.

I don't think the default settings for start menu, icons, screensaver, and resolution have anything to do with the theme files.

So is dissabling the protection the only way of changing the default files? Also, would it be possible to change the default on the XP CD so that any new install would also have the modified themes. Would dissabling protection entierly alow me to chage it? I believe screen saver is a part of themes as when I change the theme the related screen saver is also changed. I would hope that start meue is part of the styles as it is Luna based and loads as the default with Luna.

Since theme files are just plain text with theme extensions, I simply created my favorite theme and then chaged the text of Luna.theme to be the same as My favorite theme. And eventualy this worked. Luna was changed and when I swiched to Luna the screen saver was dissabled, title bar size was set to 20 from the 25 default and the transitions for menues were set to scroll instead of fade by default. Unfortuantely no other settings seem to have been effected though. Strangely though, for some reason the Them titled XP Theme dissapeared and I now had two themes titled clasic theme. Confused I tried saving my favorite theme aggain only to learn that my favorite theme dissapearded and anothe clasic theme appeared. So I basicaly went to default Luna now the same as the theme I want to use. To test I created a new account and to my amazement the screed saver was dissabled and title bar size was set to 20, but other settings like the start menue and advanced visual controls and desctop icons were as the usual unwanted default. So at least part of my work is working so far. The new account also could not create a succesfull my favorite theme.
ANybody know what could be causing the problem with saving the favorite them, and actualy modify the msstyles file or whatever is responsible for default start menue and visual enchancmets. I am trying style builder but it is going slowly.

Thanks

Maybee I'm confused. I am trying to create a style with style builder. I create a new style, import the Luna.msstyles file. So at this point i would expect the created style to be identical to the default luna style, but when I aply it, the style becomes clasic, with some strange backround and a horable font for the text. What is wrong and how can I start with simply the default style and go from there. I found some of the settigs I want to change but with style builder going clasic i can't do anything to it.

Thanks
