Customers who bought Opterons from us!

Hello!

I'm thinking about adding a new feature to our website; a graphical database of the overclocking results from our previous customers, with as much info as possible. That way, when a customer is interested in a specific stepping, they can look right on the page to see what kind of results it has been getting. I think this will be very helpful for a lot of people.

With that said, I need the information to do this! So, if you purchased an Opteron from us, and you have a few minutes, can you post the following info:

CPU Model
Stepping/Week/Location code (if you know them)
Max stable OC
vcore used to get this speed
What motherboard you use
Temps (idle and load)
What cooler
Did you burn in?
Any other useful info!

This would be really helpful for us, so if you can share that info, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Here you go. I can't believe I almost cancelled this order too.

CPU Model - Opteron 146
Stepping/Week/Location code - CAB2E 0540 FPMW
Max stable OC - 2.95GHz (haven't hit max yet but this is what I have so far)
vcore used to get this speed - 1.408V
What motherboard you use - DFI Ultra-D
Temps (idle and load) - 26C and 38C (this thing runs a lot hotter than my other Optys)
What cooler - H2O
Did you burn in? No

This was Prime Stable for 11+ hours using small fft.

The chip is OCCT stable at 2.975GHZ@1.392V.

Thanks so far guys :) I'm trying to work out exactly how I'm going to chart the info at the moment, so any info in the meantime is useful!

It'd be even better if it was from everybody, that way u'd get more steppings, a better sample of data, and everyone else in the tech community could refer to it as well.

I thought about that...

The only reason I was limiting to our customers was that future customers would see results of processors that came from us specifically; not just from anywhere.

Yeah. This thread is the only reason i found Tankguy's site. I think I'm gonna buy most (if not all) my parts from there. Awesome site Tankguy.

Hate to say this, but since you asked, have had slightly better results with CPU from Newegg and Chiefvalue, even though the CPU from you ran well (as good as others posting). It is not the distributor that makes it better or worse, but the steppings they ship.

I actually have to thank you though.
If you had not stated that Opteron sales would stop, and be no more, I never would have hunted down more of them from Newegg/Chiefvalue. I did not need or want anymore, but since they would be gone (according to your contacts), I jumped right away. Now it looks like we have time, as supply will continue.

CPU Model - Opteron 165 PIB
Stepping/Week/Location code - CCBWE 0534MPMW
Max stable OC - 2.61 GHz @9x290 (haven't tried higher)
vcore used to get this speed - 1.325 + 110% special, gives 1.43 in BIOS
What motherboard you use - DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D
Temps (idle and load) 34 idle, 46 load by SmartGuardian
What cooler - Thermalright SI-120
Did you burn in? - yes
RAM - 2 x 1024 MB PQI Turbo PC3200, 2.5-4-3-8 @DDR 580
CPU went to ~2.4 GHz on stock voltage. Both cores Prime stable for 24 hours. Core 0 is stronger than core 1.

No way! Our CPUs are the best!!! ;)

As for Opteron supply, I'm still interested to see what happens... I've still heard mutterings that they will stop. Obviously it hasn't happened yet, and may not, but there's still a chance. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Okay, I've created a little OC results chart/graph on our product info page, and I'm curious what you all think:

Opteron 144 with OC results

Obviously, it's not a scientific system, but I thought people might be interested. What do you think?

I think it?s a nice feature, and also stating what specific steppings you have in stock is good idea also, but this only really benefits the customer, this might not always be good for you because if there is a poorly documented stepping (across different forums etc), then no one would purchase a specific processor and you would be left with unsold stock, or hard to get rid of stock. (hypothesising here, as I don?t have any experience in retail)

I think the scatter graph you have used is the most applicable graph to represent this type of data, but from a personal point of view I dislike the scatter graph as I find it somewhat cumbersome to interpret data quickly, but then again its not of great importance as people only need to get an overall idea.

From a customer point of view I think this is an excellent idea.

customers just need to take that kind of data with a large grain of salt since it highly depends on air/water cooling, and ambient temps.

TG- dude.... you don't take paypal. I had three of these puppies in my cart and went to check out. no pp. Most every online retailer is now taking pp. Maybe something to consider.

The temperature vs. speed thing is probably a wasted effort. Without knowing what cooling is being used on which processor, and the erratic nature of temperature sensors, we won't get any real information out of that graph. The others are nice, though.

Most every online retailer is now taking pp

That's a real huge stretch, sorry.

I just placed an order for an opteron 144 CAB2E 0545 from TankGuys because I didn't want to shell out the cash for a 165 and was afraid the new 146s would have a poor stepping. All of the major retailers are selling optys at really HIGH prices.

I'll tell you how it goes once i get my system up and running. It's not the best stepping, but i've heard it goes up to 2.8 alright. I'll be happy with 2.4.

I would highly recommend to grab those CACJEs from TankGuys while they're available. 3GHz is a no-go (requires 334MHz HTT!), but it does 2.7GHz @stock voltage. Max OC probably 2.8~3.0GHz. (Currently Priming @2880MHz/1.52V) I also greatly appreciate the TankGuys' business practice.

I was under the impression that CAB2E OCed better, since i've heard a lot more about them than the CACJEs. I know neither are as good as the CABNE and CABYE but i think they'll both OC better than Venices.

There isn't much info on either (CAB2E, CACJE) so i think i'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

I've been hearing that the 144 CACJE's are fairly decent. Most of the 144 CAB2E's I've seen were subpar.

yup, but as i stated over in OCForums (man, we get around don't we, ben? :) ) adding my CPUs to the pool won't hurt either. :)

btw, anyone who's gotten procs from me can feel free to drop your info. off here too. Ben's adding my stuff into the general pool.
