so riddle me this...
why do companies hire people that have such thick foreign accents to be their customer service people? you cant understand a frickin word they say, and it just ends up pissing customers off.

I highly doubt that the supply on their end is any issue at all, you'd be amazed how much work people in other countries are willing to put in to try and improve things. I think it depends on how the company wants to handle this. They can hire different levels of experience and skill based on how much they want to spend.

I have met plenty of Indians who can speak excellent english that you can understand. Part of the problem here maybe people's preconceived opinions that they will encounter somebody with a thick accent who they can't understand. That attitude combined with actually encountering a person with an accent leads to the frustrations.

I was being sarcastic.

Of course it all boils down to capitalism and the company trying to locate the cheapest source of labor possible, even if it means service level is lowered.
