Check it out at Linux-Live.org

It's a series of bash scripts that make it easy to create a live-linux (bootable OS on a CDROM) type cd from any installed distro on your computer.

One example I've seen is that this one guy had display koisks that used linux and he was worried about people changing the configs around or whatever. So he built a install with just the apps that he needed for the koisk and set everything up exactly how he wanted it, then used this program to create a linux cd that he used in all the production machines.

If anything ever happenned to the machines software or config wise he just would have them reboot and it would be back into pristine condition.

I could think of hundreds of cool little things you can do with these cds.

I've actually been planning on messing with this. Someone linked me to a page for a "minimalist" slack install (40MB), so I was going to try and make it a little bit smaller and give this a shot. Haven't had the motivation recently though. :p

Are you talking about Slax? I'm using it right now to post this message. It's pretty nice and it has a bunch of scripts to build your own livecd out of any (so it says) distribution. Would be fun to fiddle with, maybe when school's out.

Slax is based on scripts from this website, but it can be used with any distro.

Yeah, that's where I got some of the information. I want a reasonably sized slax. ;)
