Okay So i am a noob so bare with me. I want to build a gaming pc for under $500. I am going to be doing just mostly gaming on it. I was wondering if someone could help me out on like parts and things I should get for UNDER $500. I want it to be a AMD computer dual core cause I heard they were better for gaming. If someone could send me some links to the parts I should get that would be helpful. I just don't want to buy alot of parts that suck and I get ripped off on them, Thanks

Honestly a quad core for gaming will be a better start, although on a $500 budget its going to be close. Does the $500 include monitor and OS?

Welcome to the forums. If you go over to the General Hardware section you'll see people asking similar question. Look through the $500 threads (yes, they are there) and see what people there are advising. Find someone's build close to what you want and use it as a starting base and go from there. For something under $500 you will have to make some compromises on things though so keep that in mind.

Here's a Maximum PC build for $500 but its an Intel build. You can use some of the ideas they used;

It's probably do-able if you are budgeting 500 for just the system. It would be pretty slim if you had to buy a monitor, OS, keyboard/mouse etc.

Other thing you could try is going on Kijiji to see what's out there. Lots of guys are selling packages for around your price range.

Even if an AMD quad core can't fit into the budget, you might just get it anyways with a successful unlock. If it works, yay, but if not, well, it's not that bad.

Tom's Hardware is also doing a system builder's marathon and they should have the $400 budget build soon, so that should help you decide on parts.

Thats $458.93 which leaves you 40$ to pick a case with, could possible save money on combo deals so look for some.

Its a very good build. May want to consider a 425w-500w psu though for any future GPU upgrades. Hopefully you can snag some sales to keep price down.

i was going to reccomemend a 500w but really for that budget it wouldnt work, and a 5770 is not a high powered draw card. If OP can find some combo deals and free up anpither 20-30$ then a seasonic 500w is around 55$ and would be a great idea.
