Truthfully I don't think that would work on a large scale. There are hundreds of affordable computer cases that come in all types of configurations. Affordable computer cases are what these multi-million dollar companies do because they have huge profit margins (most of the chassis are exactly the same with a different outside). This means that they make the case for $20 and sell it for $200 while it would cost you $80 to make the same case.
Personally I wouldn't want a case that looks like cardboard. Bamboo and other materials would be cool if executed properly (not just a skin on top of steel or plastic).
As a one man operation I would try to compete with caselabs but at a significantly cheaper price. Also offering unique materials and 1 off builds would be a hit.
Totally off-topic, I don't understand people who want to cheap out on cases when they just spent $1k on the components. I have a lot of friends who ask me to build them computers and when it comes to a case, they all say as cheap as possible.
PC's are quickly becoming for enthusiasts only. Consoles are powerful enough for the casual gamer.
