It seems that BNet allows "custom" clients (there was a guide to what different avatars mean, and one of them was like "Non-Blizzard client" or some such.
It also seems that telnet sessions were once allowed, but no longer are.
It further seems that bots are STILL allowed, they just can't connect through telnet.
This is telling me that there must be some way to write a custom interface to log in to BNet and do various stuff. I'm not looking to do anything crazy, what I want is to make a little tool that logs into BNet, checks my "friends" list and tells me who is on. Potentially, it could stay on-line and always keep me updated, but even a simple enumeration and then quit would be useful.
I can't seem to find any documentation of how to interface with BNet. Does anyone have any resources? Has anyone done this? Is it even possible?
Thanks!
