Custom Avatars?

I personally like that they do not allow custom avatars, it really sets AT apart from other forums. I find the ones that allow animated GIFs as avatars especially annoying, as well as the ones were people have 640x480 pictures in their sig AKA scroll wheel city. Yes this has been asked many times, but thought I'd throw in my $.02.

i can understand no imgs in sig, but what would be so bad about a little 100x100 .jpg

heck, the forum doesn't even have to host em.

You can set size limit, but not a content filter. The mods have their hands full just policing the posts, it'd be too much to have to check everyone's avatar as well.

"What would be so bad" about allowing a hundred-thousand-plus users to display an image of their choice ...

You wanna think about that for a second, or do I have to direct you to a certain example involving "sour yellow fruit" and "festivities"? 😛

It would be too nauciating and harder to read to have original avatars for everyone although
I do believe that people with custom titles should have avatars to do with their title like "Ace Reporter" has the custom avatar.
Meh, just my thoughts

(don't we love it when the first reply is from someone sharing the same avatar as the OP?)

Imo standard avatars lend the forums a neat and professional look which suits AT's image well enough.
