Inspirational.

Lots of potential in this sort of application, with even more room for creativity. Possibly map out how YOU would do this, besides the cosmetics. Personally, I'd like to know more of auto-shutdown, suspend-to-ram, one-touch power on/off, wiring, etc. since the author fails to clearly respond to much of the technical details.

From what I picked up: uses a Mini-ITX mobo, USB sound, USB Global Positioning System (GPS), 16MB Video. He plans to hook up wireless internet (so he can download from his garage) and some sort of gauge-meter display application.

I've never heard of MediaEngine (the software he's using for the interface) before, but it looks sweet. Just the thing to use on my HTPC!

Yep, MP3Car.com forums are a great resource, and i'm signed up over there :)

For 7" touchscreen, you will want VGA, not composite. For that, you will have to pay! ;) Check out DigitalWW or DSCustoms :)

I've been playing with MediaEngine and adding a few features, if you browse the forum you will see the changes I've made (same username there as is here)
