I just builtr a new computer with a Asus CUSL2 and it will not shutdown OR restart normally! It will get to the "Windows is Shutting Down Screen" and freeze. I have to shut it down manually, however it does not execute a scandisc when I turn it on again meaning that it is shutting down normally! PLEASE HELP!

Here is my system config:

Asus CUSL2
Intel P3 800EB 133
128 MB CRUCIAL 133
SB LIVE
ELSA Erazor x2 32MB
Netgear Fa310TX NIC

Any advice from anyone in this forum would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!Kaneda

I seem to get the same problem randomly... I have no idea what causes it, but it doesn't seem to do any harm to shut it down with the power button since Windows has already pretty much shut down even though it is still at that screen and just hasn't turned off.

ITs the SB Live. I have no fix for you, but that is the same problem I'm having. To prove it to yourself, disable your SB Live in device manager and things work wonderfully.

If you're using WindowsME, then The Beast is right, it's your soundcard. I spent all of last night and most of today trying to figure out why WindowsME wouldn't shutdown. By simply moving the soundcard from one PCI slot to another solved the shutdown problem...but now I can't restart!

Thanks for the help guys! I tried disabling my Live Card and taking it out but I'm still having the same problem... Did I mention that I can't even get to the Startup in DOS... Oh Well! At least I'm not alone in this matter... Do you think guys think its a motherboard problem?

Disable Legacy USB in the BIOS.
Under PCI/PNP IRQ Resource Exclusion, set it to YES for IRQ 5 in the BIOS.
Disable DOS Emulation for the SBLive in Windows.

Thanks Andy! That did the trick! This has only been my third post and I've already had a problem solved by this great forum! Now I need to figure out how to configure my Netgear RT314 to play on the ZONE...

Thanks again,

Kaneda
