Am dumb/newbie who built system around ASUS CUSL2 mobo,p3 700,crucial 256mb CL2 PC133 ram not knowing the following about this mobo:
This mobo has no 100:133 cpu/memory buss ratio so is a poor choice for overclocking unless you can hit 133 FSB or higher where the 1/2 APG and 1/4 PCI divider kick in. Using 100:100 setting, as one must below 133 FSB, the mobo defaults to 2/3 APG thus overclocking the vidcard to 89 at 132 FSB. Also, at 132 FSB the PCI buss is running at 44mhz which could damage HDD. This mobo has no provision for forcing PCI divider from 1/3 to 1/4 below 133FSB. Thinking it was conservative I inched up on FSB; 700;833;932 (highest allowed set at 100:100) believing the hype and not paying attention to the APG and PCI being dangerously overclocked the higher i went with FSB. Dumb luck i didn't fry anything and was able to run at the 133:133 cpu/memory buss ratio where the 1/2APG and 1/4PCI divider kicked in. I am sympathetic with the person who can not hit 133FSB as he has a slow gaming system.

Yes, below 133 the CUSL2 may have a fault. But at 133 and higher, it really shines! Wouldn't you agree?

I certainly would agree the CUSL2 shines above 133FSB. I had no idea of the seriousness of getting to 133FSB but luckily got a SL45Y cBO stepping Malay 22nd week p3 700 which overclocks well. The post was to alert those as dumb as I to the problem below 133FSB so they could gamble or get a pre-tested p3 700 at 133FSB or above. Hind site would dictate getting a 133FSB such as a p3 866 or p3 933 and forget overclocking or overclock those minimally. All these reviews and raves should point out things such as this.

Damn rite.. I'm running my CUSL2/700e/128 at 143fsb with ratio of 143:143, CUSL2 is really a great mobo for high end overclocking
