CUSL2 and standby mode

I have an ASUS CUSL2 and Windows ME. It use to be that I the system went to sleep after the designated time and all was perfectly silent. I recently reinstalled Windows and set all my BIOS to default settings. Since that time I have fiddled and fiddled but i can't get my system to go into sleep mode like it use to. The monitor goes to standby and the HD powers down, but that's all. I have got a new power supply unit since then, but it is new and I don't see why that should cause a problem. If someone with the same system could please take some time to tell me how I should have everything set, i would be very grateful. I have a Geforce 3, incase that's of any consequence. Thanks
