I've heard people talk about how the intel ata drivers causes problems with their cusl2. I'm just curious, what are those problems? I've been told that it messes up your CDR. I have the intel drivers installed and a CDRW. I just used it without any problems. I just want to be aware of the problems so that I can tell that my drivers aren't screwing up my system.

Yeah, I had a problem in Win2k, when I installed the latest Intel ATA drivers, it recognized my drives (hard drives and CD) as SCSI when they were IDE and then later on it made my burner and DVD-ROM completely not work because the "drivers could not be found".

Everything seemed like it was running okay, but HD Tach showed high CPU util scores: 22% (WinME) .. 4.8% normally.

I wouldn't installed them either. But if u do, run HD Tach & check ur CPU util.

Performance is generally increased with the Intel ATA drivers for IDE drives.

The only time that there is an issue is with IDE CDRWs. It does not affect SCSI CDRWs. With the Intel ATA drivers, buffer under-run coasters happen with nearly every CDR burnt.

Rather than CD type drives not detected by the Intel ATA drivers, a lot of the time it is probably due to non-detection at POST. I've seen that happen on several CUSL2 systems where CDROM drives and devices on an IDE channel with a CDROM drive will not detect until reset.

I don't know about most people, but for me I have had no problems after installing the drivers. Everything is working fine with the drivers installed. I don't know why some people are having these problems. Anyone out there have intel ata drivers installed and haven't ran into any problems?
