Curved screens

Is there an advantage to curved screens? I've never really heard of them before.

there is an advantage to curved screens, for projectors atleast. but i'm not sure about screens like this one. not that it matters, its too damn small.


for projectors, a curved projection screen avoids the pincushion effect in 1 dimension. to fix both dimensions would require a con-caved screen. focusing may be an issue on the edges.

I could see something like this for a especially large computer monitor. tv? no way. It'd be annoying for off axis viewing.

You know, a 55" 4K IPS curved screen on a desktop would actually be pretty cool - very immersive. Sort of like that old Alienware model:
