Curved monitors and productivity?

I can imagine curved monitors can be good when gaming or multimedia but what about productivity? Photoshop? Programming and other text related tasks? I've never seen a curved monitor myself but I find it hard to believe that a curve is helpful at all inside a text editor. Can someone who actually owns one shed some light on the negative aspects? Much appreciated.

I think it would actually be annoying for anyone doing serious digital media work. These monitors are marketed towards media consumers rather than creators anyway. Additionally, true multi-monitors are usually better handled by operating systems and would be easier to multitask with as a result.

I had the Dell U3415W briefly, but found the curve too distracting in Windows. The width was great in games and the curve didn't matter, but you're right to assume productivity apps suffer. The bends in the application windows were noticeable, and it would be pretty useless for anything that requires accurate graphics work.

I've got a flat ultrawide, and there's a bit of a dimming effect in the corners of the screen if I get too close that the curve might help, but I have no idea how the curve looks in practice, and it's probably slight compared to having actually straight lines be curved.
