Cursor defaulting to search box when browsing to Yahoo/Google - way to stop this?

I have had both Yahoo and Google set as my homepage in the past and get annoyed when the cursor defaults to the site's search box instead of to IE's address bar. (IE6SP1, Win2k Pro).

Yahoo's site just started doing this 2-3 months ago. I scanned thru Internet Options but couldn't track anything down. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

Setting focus to the search field is done on the page via JavaScript.. the only way to disable this would then be to disable JavaScript in your browser.

I asked this question on the FW computer forums awhile ago...

It is code thing in IE where there is a command to position the cursor in the search fields when you open the page...It does not happen in Netscape (at least it didn't last month)....

Fvcking hate it!!!

Crapper, sounds like I'm screwed. The reason I ask is because these are set as my homepage, yet I don't need to search for something every damn time I open a window. Most times I am entering a URL.

Then set your homepage to about:blank, and then add Google to your Links toolbar...

Or install Google's toolbar thingy...
