So i'm transferring my domains from my current registrar to namecheap. I'm starting with one to see how i like it. So, i initiate the transfer process. Within the hour, the status becomes "Unable to retrieve current domain contacts from UWhois" - I email them, and they say give it 24hrs. 24hrs later, status is still the same. Email again. Wait 24hrs. Status same. Email again, "Ok, we'll manually transfer it, but its a problem with your current registrar they gave faulty information". So the status changed to "Queued for transfer" an an hour later its back to "Unable to retrieve current domain contacts from UWhois"!!!!!!!! :|
It's been 6 days (i skipped a couple steps in my story) and its still not tranferred. Ugh.

Ok, i'm done. Thanks for listening.

Step 1. Cry River
Step 2. Build Bridge
Step 3. Get over it

Have a nice day...

Sounds like it's not Namecheap's fault. Who is your other registrar?

Namecheap has like a trillion domains.... so I think they know what they are doing.

Yah i'm about to email them again.

It shouldnt be anything with my current registrar. i can goto uwhois and see the information, and typically, with transfers, theres no need to deal with the other registrar since i'm the administrative contact.

Who was your original domain registrar?

You may want to stick with them or switch to GoDaddy.com

I haven't transferred a domain in years so, typically, it can be done in a day or 2, right?

I've transferred domains from registerfly.com to namecheap.com it took 48 hours for everything to go through.

Make sure that YOUR email address is the admin email.

Yes, my email address is listed as the admin. This morning, after my 4th email to namecheap, i finally got the email to accept the transfer, "click here if you authorize this transfer" type thing. I clicked yes, and now its back to the old cant find info from uwhois status. I'm not sure about going with godaddy now, since i already accepted the transfer to namecheap.

That's exactly what happened with mine, I received an automated e-mail with a link, click the link you're brought to a generic page which asks you to either APPROVE or DECLINE the transfer. I clicked APPROVE (or yes whatever it said), it said my decision was recorded and thanks.

So it sounds like it's FINALLY working now :) should be done by Saturday morning hopefully.
