Wait. DX 10.1, refresh cards, 2950, 9000-series NV, there's just too much in the pipe to jump right now. Not to mention that the 7950 is fast enough for current games.
I wonder if nVidia would reserve the Geforce 9-series for when DX11 rolls out, just like we went from DX9 to DX10 from the 7800s to the 8800s. Maybe it will be an 8900-monikered card.
The 7800GT to 7900GT was a pretty decent performance boost (about 25%+). Of course, 7800GTX to 7900GTX was much less (about 5-6%), so who knows? I'm just rambling as usual.
don't upgrade now unless your video card is not cutting it. ati is supposedly releasing some interesting cards on 9/30 if you need to do something asap, however.
Is there any games right now that you can't run like you want ?
So far DX10 isn't doing too well on performance.
I would wait if I could till around december and see what happens.
Absolutely agree with the other guy's here. Don't upgrade as of yet. Give it just a few more month. There are going to be alot more to choose from soon and your current card is fine.
I was in the same boat as you. I have a BFG 7900 GTX OC and was wanting to upgrade to the HD 2900 XT. But once the 2950 Pro, 2900 Pro and the 2900 GT...including the new NV series was announced... I thought to myself...I am NOT jumping the gun again.
Keep your card a while longer. No need to waste the dough yet.
