Currently replacing my 30 year old deck boards with some composite. It's mostly a free floating deck with the exception of a walkout from my back door that's about 5 feet wide and is attached to my home via a ledger board.
I pulled the boards off yesterday and this is what i found. There's a small piece of metal flashing tucked behind the vinyl siding. Behind that seems to be some kind of stick on adhesive.
I noticed as i pulled off the deck boards that there were a decent amount of tiny ants on the right side of the ledger board. Sprayed some raid to get rid of them all.
I've been trying to find something online to show me what I can do to bring this to modern standards but I just want to check here as well. It seems like i should get some kind of self adhering membrane, tuck it up behind the vinyl siding and have it overlap the ledger board, and then put a piece of L or Z shaped metal flashing on top of that (replacing my existing metal one). Anything else i'm missing?
