I had a feeling something was up because I was watching their retention go up each day from 58, to 59, to 60, 61 and so on. I couldn't believe it was at exactly 60 days but now 70 days within the next 2 weeks! Wow! Amazing!

100 days retention here we come sooner or later!

The way they are going they will be there before Christmas lol.

Wow amazing. I am watching as it happens. 62 days on one group I found and most groups right now are at 61 days.

These same groups yesterday were 61 and 60 days.

I have a feeling it may go a little over 70 days like 71 days. I have seen this happen before. I can't believe how much giganews has been updating their retention. Heck you could use them every other month and do find. Plus it would come out cheaper than other news providers!

Interesting. I may have to look at cancelling my Newshosting.com account and giving Giganews a go. What are they like, speed-wise and customer service-wise?

But having 2 months retention is overkill. That is like almost 30 million headers that need to be handled. A 2 week retention is all that is really required.

Agreed. My ISP server has gone from 2 days to about 3 weeks now and it's too much. I like having about a week of retention, anything I want to download I can grab in that time frame. Having 2 months or more is ridiculous.

I'm also a bit skeptical.. anyone use Easynews and these guys recently.. I remember them about 2 years ago.. tried them and newsguy and both were really bad compared to Easynews so I've stuck with Easynews for the past 2 yrs.. has anyone tried both recently for comparison?

Edit: Comparison as far as speed and having all posts.. I remember them missing files in almost everything I was trying to download.. thats really what turned me off from them

No its not. Sometimes you may miss something you wanted thats over 3 weeks old. Some things are never reposted.

I'm on the brink of signing up even though I haven't decided which provider to go through yet...this could come in handy.

Slow month:p

Wow now that is slow.

Can anyone help me please?

How do you know when its more worth it to go with a block account where you pay just once, per a month account where you only can use a certain amount of gigs per a month, or a unlimited account ?

Like how little would you have to download with a unlimited account each month for it to not really be worth it anymore?

The biggest advantage of unlimited I see is if something is wrong or not what it suppose to be you don't waste any unneeded bandwidth really.

How much has everyone downloaded maximum before?

I routinely download between 300-400GB per month from Usenet.

Cool!

I have seen people download 600 to 700 GB easily.

Do you get to everything you download or delete a lot ?

Hot damn! I wish I could afford the unlimited account, but I'll just go with the $10 account from easynews for now. I'm only going to use it for music and TV shows anyway.

The second half can add up pretty quick. Though not to quickly but still it can. I know easynews now offers 20 gigs now plus those other free gigs which is nice! I like that they have rollover gigs to! That really helps if you don't use it all so you can have a lot to use in one burst later, if you want!

cool, i just don't see where you are getting the information from that giganews is cheaper than newshosting? i agree newshosting's retention is around 30 days, and giganews is approaching 70. however, unlimited for newshosting is 14.95 and it is 24.95 for giganews. am i missing something?
