Current sweet spot in price vs. performance PCIe

I know it's going to change come Holidays/DX10/Vista, but what is the current sweet spot right now in price vs. performance on a PCIe (non SLI) card?

I haven't bought a card in awhile and am considering a 7900Gt used off the forums (some get as low as $ 160/170) or an ATI X1900XT? Is that what I should be looking at for sub $ 200 cards (and preferably around $ 150?) LMK. Thanks.

Anyone else? Nvidia fan boys? I've personally never owned an ATI card......

I'm not a fanny but I would consider the 7900gs a nice p/p card. Especially if you can find it at $150 it was at a couple weeks ago.

I'd say the sweetspot in PCI-E is the 7900GS if you can find one on sale. I got in on the BB deal a couple weeks ago ($150-12%) which made it pretty cheap out the door.

I was simply hoping to get something at least equal to my awesome old X850xt AGP and ended up with something faster. :)

The 7900GS, less than $140, brand new @ Best Buy was an excellent deal. That was the first thing that came to my mind also. We think alike, Beachboy.

The other one was the 7900GTO to be had for $240 shipped from ChiefValue on 10-13-06 only. You can't ask for a better price for a high end card.

I did see a forum member got away with getting a used 7900GTX for $210, though. I, myself, almost got a used ATI X1900XT for $200 shipped. The seller bailed out at the last minute.
