Current or next gen AMD gpu?

What do you have currently? There are a lot of rumors as per usual, some say AMD will have new GPUs in Sept/Oct others say end of year or early 2015. Unless you are running something really low end or your graphics card dies I would hold off for a few months.

Currently running a 6970. Old but still quite good. Nvidia's GTX 870 might also compete or even beat the 280x in price/performance ratio.

You can get a 290 for the price of some 280x's. Check 290 pricing some might be in the range you want to spend.

Get a used 290. Many miners are jumping ship and there are some great deals out there (if you're in North America).

Mmmmm I'd stay away from used. Miners have run the cards to death 24/7 with the mining craze. Now trying to unload them. Hard to tell if you can trust the seller when they say "I've never mined with the card." So good luck with that. There are good deals on new cards.

Same with "never OC-ed".

Like "yeah I know all about overclocking and mining, although this particular card was never used in such activities" GF pleease...
