Building a machine. After much consternation... uh... wrangling of opinions, I've come up with the following hardware. 😉 Thoughts?

SILVERSTONE Black ATX Mid-Tower Case, Model "SST-TJ04" -RETAIL
Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM SATA Hard Drive, Model WD740GD, OEM
Crucial 1 GB DDR PC-3200
ASUS K8T800 Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket 754 CPU, Model "K8V SE Deluxe" -RETAIL
ENERMAX 460W Power Supply for AMD K7 & Pentium4 Model "EG465AX-VE (W)FCA"
AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1MB L2 Cache - Retail
Radeon Pro 9800
Plextor DVD -RW/+RW burner

Questions I still have: is the power supply overkill? Should I pony up and get a second WD for a RAID?

128 Gigs 1/2 for raid 0 stripping - so you spend 450 dollars for only 74 Gigs of HDD space no thank you. Maybe if you also wanted to spend an extra 100 dollars for a 120-140 Gig Data IDE drive on top of the RAID'ed Raptors. Not worth the money IMO.

if you like it fast, raptor raid is worth it.... I personally think that's an excellent choice for TODAY for a rig

Hold off on the raid, I think it will be fast enough as is.
