We're looking to get a new computer, this won't be used for intense gaming, although there will be some. It's more going to be for work use. We want a fast processor, but we're more concerned about getting a good deal. What's the best deal out now in processors?

Thanks In Advance.

EDIT: Alright, I'd appreciate it if you guys could help me design this PC. There's an eMachines I'm looking at right now that will end up being around $700 after the extended warranty and tax. (It's refurbished though.) So I guess that's my budget right now. You don't need to include a monitor or video card, we have a monitor and I have an old GeForce4 TI4200 64mb that'll be alright. Thanks for your help.

Here are some of the eMachines' specs. Refurbished

Athlon XP 3200+
512MB Ram
160 GB HDD
DVD +/- RW Drive
Win XP Home
On board sound and video, I'm inferring.

Total after extended 2 year warranty is about $700, but then there's a $100 rebate. Can you guys match that for cheaper, or match price with better quality?

go for the athlon 64 3000+. its very fast and a very very good cpu. i recommend that you get a nice nforce 3 250 chipset motherboard with it. well, how much are u willing to spend total? we can help you out. otherwise, if you're really in a budget, then go wtih the mobile athlons and oc them. :)

that emachines is a very good price and is hard to beat. you wont be able to get a better system for cheaper unless you can build yourself a computer. otherwise, it looks very nice. only thing that sux is that it cant handle anything more then counter-strike.
