Current 22" - 24" LCD leader for Business use (aka text, spreadsheets etc)??

Going dual monitor to take our accounting firm as paperless as possible.

We need something great with text, spreadsheets etc.

Have been using single Dell 2405s and they have served us very well. Can't really get them anymore (used off ebay is about it) and they are still almost $400 each. Really hoping to spend less than that.

22 - 23" would be better for space concerns on the desk as well.

Any suggestions?

The Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP is the direct replacement, it is a S-PVA panel (whereas the the 2405 was just PVA), and you can obtain new from Dell with coupon stacking as low as $ 370.00.

But hurry Dell is moving away from Samsung S-PVA panels to LGD IPS panels with the new 24" Dell UltraSharp U2410. And in most cases, S-PVA is better for office use than IPS.

Sadly $370 a piece is a little more than we care to spend at the moment

Thanks for the suggestion though.

The 2208WFP is available for $199 through the Dell Outlet is that of comparable quality to the 2408?

Edit - Nevermind the 2208 is a TN panel not the PVA panel of the 24 series

How is the text quality on the 2209WA? They are cheap from the Dell Outlet.

I should mention that 99% of the software we run is black text on a white background so the uniformity issues with this panel may be a concern as well.

Edit - Nevermind looks like I can't read 😕 their stock list does not show the 2209WA duhh.

2209WA is an LGD IPS panel, beter for true color, multimedia work, can have softer blacks, less contrast, less "snap" (as compared to PVA/S-PVA), , for MS Office Suite, S-PVA is the best, but there are few out there, mostly 24" (all using the same S-PVA panel) and 27" (also all using the same S-PVA panel); below 24" almost all has gone TN.

If it is just text and spreadsheets, why not just go with a TN panel? Color/viewing angles might not be too good but you aren't really dealing with that. You'd be right in front of the monitor the whole time.

Why need such a monitor for lame ass spreadsheets?

I'm an accountant and we look at numbers all day on the screen, tax returns, bank statements etc etc so clean and clear text is very important.

TN panels will cause issues with long term usage day in and day out usage, such as production in an office, headaches etc.

Also most TN panels are incorporated in displays that "designed" for consumer use, not "commercial usage" as in a business. Insurance, NFPA, and other factors may come into play here, if one tries to use a non- commercial rated dispaly in an office.
