Curious Why D2OL and not UD

Hey Guys,
I don't want anyone to jumpship or anything I'm just wondering why people are starting to pick D2OL over UD (or as well as UD)?

I wouldnt discourage anyone from running UD or any project. I personally chose D2OL for its mission and how it reflects current events and future events. Cancer research is a very worthy project, but its been going on forever with very slow progress. But any progress is good progress. Terrorism and specifically bio terrorism is a very real threat, and unlike Cancer can be spread upon tens of thousands of people in a VERY short time. Anything we can do to defeat its intent in a rapid deployment of medical technology will greatly enhance the chances of preventing a devastating outbreak. Unfortunately Cancer will always be with us in various forms, but hopefully we will one day find cures or greatly reduce its occurrance. I only wish the best of luck to those doing the UD project to make some break throughs for the sake of humanity, and would much prefer people to do a project like yours than something non-medical or at least share with thier non medical projects. I believe D2OL and UD are great examples of how we common citizens can make a differrence and give us a greater hope for future generations to live in freedom, safety from terrorism, and live in a healthier world. 🙂

Well I just like the D2OL client better for one. And UD does not run on my mac (as of a few years ago 😛) Then finally I really don't like there stat system. From what I can remeber (may be changed now) you get more stats for a larger hd and such. I can't stand that.

from the perspective of a moderate stats whore ( 😱 ), there is no way to make a mark in the UD stats, there are just too many HUGE players in that arena

also, again from the stats perspective, the scoring system that UD uses is bull$hit/crap/sucks monkey butt/can be easily manipulated to get super high scores with little production.

on the science side, i can't say which one is "better" , i have no clue

ps, i do both projects, i have my wife's Athlon 850 on UD and a couple of faster athlon's at home on D2OL (at the moment)

Nothing against the project as far as purpose or worth but I'm another who doesn't like the UD scoring system.

One thing I'd like to note is it's freaking sad that we need projects or efforts to do research against diseases that have already been eliminated in the public.

Terrorists suck and so does everyone else who hates people based on their gender, color, religious belief, nationality, etc.

Yeah, that pretty much says what I was thinking too.

I have done both projects (with UD 100 days of computing with one machine only) and I like D2ol more becouse its smaller and you really feel like being part of something and that you can make a difference.
