Curious Hard Drive RMAs

Is there any hard drive manufacturer that does not ship out recertified hard drives for a replacement when your hard drive you bought new fails during warranty ?

Not anymore, I had used to sometimes receive a non-certified drive but it has been a long time, probably 4 years

If you have a kingston SSD, If the drive fails within two years of it's three year warranty, you get a new drive. After the two year mark you get a refurbished drive. Kingston also pays for the drive to be shipped back to them.

He asked about HD, not SSD.
For SSDs, Toshiba & OCZ give new units as well.
Samsung ships back refurbed SSDs.

Nope.
Though, one person claims that they have gotten back a new HD.

That person is me and what you receive depends on what the manufacturer has available to send you. If you luck out then they send you a new drive, otherwise you get a refurb and that is in the details of the warranty. Of all of the drives I've rma'd only samsung has sent me a refurb denoted by the bright orange label on the bottom of the drive. Next time I might get a wd or seagate refurb but until I do I will not have received one from them. When I rma'd my ocz and adata ssd's they send me back a new drive.
