It will eventually after about 1-3 days go black. The power light is on but the screen goes black.
Pushing the button will cause a click but no static woooosh. I must do this repeatedly, ususally with no success unless the monitor has been off for several hours to a day or more.
It seems the longer it is off the better chance I have of getting it to turn back on.

This monitor is out of warranty. I have no money right now to get a new one. I have been loaned a 13 " Princeton Graphic Systems EO14 manufactured in 1996 (ewww).
I switch back and forth when the VS goes out.

I will be getting a total of $1,011 refund over the course of maybe 5 months from school. Perhaps then the 2005FPW will have deals going.

Is it truely not worth getting this monitor fixed? I wouldn't know where to take it anyway. I don't know if VS would fix it locally by someone.

Make sure that you are using supported resolutions and frequencies. CRT monitors are cheap now days thanks to the fad of LCDs.

I have the same monitor and love it. I've had it for about 4 years now. Anyways get a quote from a shop to find out if it'll be better for you to wait for that school money or to have it repaired.

Sorry to hear about your problems with this monitor.
I loved mine, and felt guilty for retiring it.

Crossing my fingers....I changed the res to 1600x1200 and refresh to 75.
It has stayed on for I think now 4 days. I haven't tried to shut down the computer or the monitor yet.
I will leave it on another week, then turn it off.
Perhaps it has something to do with one or both of the lower settings being faulty.
