Hi all. Got a stick of RAM, trying to figure out what brand it is.

The only marking on the chip is a little logo that looks like Saturn (the planet) or the sorts. Any body have any idea? Just curious about it is all. Thanks!

CTspd

CTspd is a nice little utility that will tell you all of the settings of your ram as well as who makes it.

Cool, thanks etech. I'll give that util a try when i get home and pop the RAM in my machine.

Budman, I don't think it's Infineon. I've seen the Infineon logo before and this doesn't look like what I'm used to. It's kind of hard to describe, but the chip has this logo in the top left, next to that it reads :

G3S24A75B
and under that it says
A0120

I downloaded the utility, ran it and I get the following message: "At least one DIMM is missing with wrong or missing DIMM found" What does this mean?
I have two 128 MB stick of Mushkin Basic PC133 memory. I removed one at a time and ran the utilty and still get the same message. Then I removed both Mushkin memory sticks and installed one 128MB PNY memory and same message. What is going on? My computer is working fine.

I have an ASUS K7V mb with a clasic Athlon 650 mhz.

Most of these program's are useless for finding out exactly who produced the RAM. It gets this info from the SPD module on the PCB, BUT ONLY if the manufacturer bothered to put it in there to begin with. The only sure why is to research the serial numbers on the RAM itself. There's a few sites you can try to find this info. GO HERE and stroll down to the RAM section. You may find what you're looking for there.

I have memory made by Crucial, Kingston and Viking. CTspd identified all three. If you cheaped out and bought some no-name off brand memory then it is possible it may not work.
If your memory is of any decent quality it should work.

did you try sisoft Sandra? It should tell you the manufacturer of the chips as well as the cas ratings, but as someone else pointed out this may be dependent on whether this information was entered when the memory was made.

I'm sorry for the confusion. The logo is on the top left corner of the chip, the markers make up the rest of the chip.

Ctspd didn't detect it on my machine. :(

yes. Try Sisoft Sandra Pro. Works great to find the ram type and make.
