I'm going to be sitting at about 26% starting Monday (that is when I start my job and move into my apartment). I am in Northern Virginia, Crystal City area...

Ok decided to do this but got depressed when i did the math.

Just me, nothign else but rent, bassed off gross, On an income at 152% above Minimum wage.
Oh btw this is no where near boston or the big citties, this is the cheaper side of the state.

Rent only is 37% of my income

Western MAssachussetts:

32% for just apartment (in bad neighboorhood)

37% for same apartment in decent neighboorhood

45% Same apartment in Good area

26% in Western Iowa. My wife doesn't work and we've only had the mortgage for 1.5 years so I expect that over time it will continue to become a smaller and smaller percent.
