I'm going to be going to Cuba for two weeks and, obivously, will be drinking my face off. I need ideas for quick recover of, or cure's of, hang-overs. Home remidies, naturally, medicinally, etc. Need all your ideas!

i heard on the radio of this new pill called "the chaser" or something. you are supposed to take it before you drink and it is supposed to absorb the toxins that cause hang overs so you don't get a hangover the next day. do a search for it on the net, you might find it. the message i heard was a radio advertisement for it, not sure on price or if you can get it in your area. i live in southeast michigan.

Plain ole nasty Alka-Seltzer always does wonders for me for some reason.

Best cure in the world is prevention -- don't drink! If you're going to be boozing it up, live with the consequences like a man!

Drink lots of water before you go to sleep....
There are several problems associated with this cure though.
Remembering to do it, sour stomach and getting the glass to your mouth without wearing the water are a some of them.
On the herbal front:
Willow bark - for pain and headache, a natural form of salicylate, the active ingredient found in aspirin.
Scullcap - Cooling and detoxifying.
Ginseng - Energizes yet nourishes the nervous system.
Chamomile - Calms the rebellious digestive system.
Green Tea - May benefit the next morning. Contains caffeine and may help stabilize blood sugar.
Nux vomica - homeopathic remedy for nausea

Best prevention for me is to stay up until I'm sober, or at least real close. Then I drink a few glasses of water and hit the sack.

Don't drink your face off.
If you must drink alcohol, drink at least double the amount of water.
But it still takes a mad amount of time to get over a hangover.

I don't know anything to cure a hangover other than the hair of the dog that bit you but I do know how to keep the room from spinning after you've had too many and decide to crash. And I'm serious, this really works, I know this is going to sound stupid but I know from experience this works. Sleep with one leg hanging off the bed with your foot on the floor. After drinking too much tequilla this works for me every time.

Drink lots of water after you are drunk, the next day take an advil and drink a beer to get your body up and running.

The worst thing about drinking is after you get to your room and you just get comfortable and just about ready to go to sleep the toilet seat falls on your head, that is why the head hurts the next day.

The water idea works only if you drink like 20 gallons of the stuff, and then you'll need to run a hose from your d1ck to the toilet!

That "anchoring the foot" thing sounds good!

As for the "drink another one", that work too. Also if you don't drink the same drink that got you messed, you could end up never drinking that one again! For me, Coors Light and LGD beer, I can't drink; even if I smell it, I begin to heave because I got ripped on that stuff bad quite a while ago!

bloody mary or two. fix you right up.

remember - hangover is cause by dehydration and withdrawl symptoms.

Tips to avoid one in the first place -
don't mix types of alchohol - stick with beer or hard stuff of choice
mix in some healthly glasses of water
have food in your stomach, the greasier the better (old italian trick is bread and olive oil)
stay away from wine - sulfites give you headache
don't pound away and suddenly stop drinking...try to taper off smoothly to subdue the mild withdrawls
And for godsakes...know your limit!

Know anyone with access to an oxygen tank and a mask? ;) Seriously, I know a lot of people in the health care industry that crawl into work after a hard night and hit the O^2 tanks for 20 minutes before work. They say that it's the best thing you can do to help.

Also, if you are doing mixed drinks with cola's or soda, have them make it with the diet version of the drink. The sugar in the regular forms keeps you drunk longer and makes you feel worse because the sugar inhibits the metabolism process of the alcohol in your liver.

Whatever you do, don't take a handful of ibuprofen (advil) or tylenol in the morning. The advil will toast your kidneys while the tylenol will destroy your liver. Also, asprin has been known to cause bleeding in the stomach and intentines when combined with alcohol. Best to steer clear of drugs and "just deal with it" if you can.

I think the real trick is either

a) start drinking when you wake up

or

b) Don't fall asleep at the peak of your drunkenness.... let the stuff wear off for a while before sleeping... the farther you are from you drunken peak when you fall asleep... the less of a hangover the next day.

If you want to be able to drink your buddies under the table, eat about 22 ounces of steak. The steak will absorb the alcohol and it will enter your system a lot more slowly.
