Everyone I know finds smokers and smoking to be completely disgusting.

OSU has been increasing their cancer awareness advertising lately (internally and externally)... I wonder if this is related.

Personally I would still prefer non-smoking as it smells like ****, gives me headache and make me cough. It also increases my chances of all kinds of other diseases and besides that even if there's a cure for cancer I would still prefer not to have it.

Relevant to this forum - cigarette tar is awful for computers. It coats everything, which then helps dust adhere. Fans can seize up, and heatsinks grow an insulating dust layer.

Smoking in public isn't banned because of cancer risks. It's just a filthy habit. Room's, clothes and objects in contact with cigarette smoke are damaged. It stinks and only addicted, arrogant fvcks think it's OK to piss off 80% of the people in any given area.

I would say that more than 99% of nonsmokers find it annoying. Nonetheless, it is their body, let them ruin it. No real reason to outlaw it, unless you want a Big Brother type government. However, they should not smoke if it is bothering people around them. Smokers should consider the people around them when smoking and be sure to be courteous and take it somewhere where it will not bother others. To those smokers who actually do take others thoughts into consideration before smoking,

That is true. When fixing computers, you can tell right away if it was owned by a smoker.

Quit trying to make them sound like martyrs or something.

It's not just annoying, it's abusive to my lungs. Cancer is a long term effect of smoking and second hand smoke. Most non-smokers are smart enough to stay away from places where they know it's going to be rampant or forego bitching because they know it.

Saying you have a right to smoke in a place is selfish. And no, you can't say that we are selfish because we don't want you to smoke because we are an overwhelming majority. If a president can win with 51%, I think non-smokers can win with >90%.

I think that everybody who pay no mind to a non-smoker's choice to not smoke is a complete jerk. Businesses everywhere (with a few exceptions) are smart to go smoke free. It encourages the majority to patronize them more, and most smokers will just deal with it and smoke once they get outside.

Calling it annoying is like calling paralysis a minor inconvience. It makes me feel sick. It makes me gag. It makes my eyes water and makes everything I eat or drink taste horrible.

You do not have a RIGHT to smoke. Much like driving, cigarettes are a privledge. Nowhere in the constitution does it gaurantee you the right to smoke.

Yes. Health reasons have never had anything to do with it except to be a populist rallying point. Otherewise, it's just elitist screw-your-neighbor politics, nothing more. Most people would gleefully and sadistically outlaw other peoples' children if they thought they could get away with it.

?Overall, out findings are proof of the principle that this drug can kill cancer cells very effectively but does very little damage to healthy cells,?

FYI, cancer is not the only disease caused or exacerbated by smoking. There is still coronary heart disease, COPD, emphysema, male impotency, etc.

Never heard of someone getting these diseases from second hand smoke.
