Cumulative Security Update for IE6 causes 404

Sometimes when I run updates on a computer and it installs the Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6, it makes IE result in immediate 404 errors with secure sites like Hotmail or Ameritrade.com.

I've tried adding every URL imaginable in the Trusted Sites list, and I've disabled every firewall and AV program running. I've deleted cookies. I've checked and unchecked and rechecked all of the security protocols in the advanced menu. This same problem has happened on XP machines and ME machines. I've googled the issue without much result.

Try a spyware remover, or trade up whatever crappy firewall you might be running.

Where did you get said update? If it's not from Microsoft, don't touch it with a 50ft barge pole.
If you did get it from there, try downloading it again, there's every possiblity that it's corrupt.
