anyone know of a good monster story from a specific culture? like a clash between a hero and a monster. preferably not greek. i need a story for my creative writing class and im drawing blanks here. cheers for procrasination

i was going to say the chupacabra but there's no hero there...
i'm sure i've heard of several japanese, chinese, and possibly middle eastern and native american tales, but i can't think of any.

tried searching online and i'm not quite sure what to search for...
