Not a bad price. How much was shipping?
Amazon charges $137.99 for a new one. Then again, they also have $25 off $125 and $50 GC back on cuisinart over $149. Add a cuisinart kitchen utensil over $12 so your Cuisinart total is over $149 (or any other small Cuisinart filler). Then you use the $25 off coupon so the total is around $125. With free shipping and once the $50 gift certificate code arrives, it works out to about $69 for the coffee maker ($125 - $50 GF - $6 (1/2 of $12 filler).

D.

PS: The black model, instead of brushed crome, is only $99.95, but then you'd need a $50 filler instead of just $12.

Note: While I've been satisfied with refurbished Cuisinart small appliances I've bought in the past, remember that the refurb only comes with a 90 day warranty instead of 3 years for a new one (in this case).

Cuisinart DGB-600BC

Edit: Just tried that site with the refurb and it came out to $12.50 shipping making it total $79. Unless the $50 gift code that you have to wait for is too much of a bother, it really looks like buying it from Amazon, with their current promotions, is the better deal. It may be $40 more up front, but it's cheaper with the $50 gift code and is also new, not refurbed.

Why not just get the $15 Gevalia coffee maker deal and buy yourself a grinder w/ the amount that you've saved? We just got the Gevalia about 2 weeks ago and it's an awesome unit.

Thanks for the post. I'm a coffee fanatic!

Honestly, though, for all of you that haven't tried one, get a French coffee press (search Amazon) - best coffee brew, IMHO.

Brand new, both plastic and stainless steel, these are $99 at Linens and Things. Plus, you can almost always find a 20% coupon somewhere, either in the mail, newspaper or online.

My mother bought me one of the previous models. We are serious coffee drinkers, make about 4 pots a day. Most coffee makers only last us about 6 months. Mine lasted about 2 weeks before it started leaking all over the place. would not hold water in the resivoir. I think these are to complicated and hard to keep clean. I returned mine and got a Bunn and LOVE it! it has been going almost 2 years now. I had read bad things about the Bunn home machines becasue they keep the water hot all the time and some have said they make flat coffee. I have not noticed this at all, unless I am out of town for a day or two. So I would have to suggest staying away from it if you make coffee often.

My wife has an older Cuisinart grinder/brewer that she's used daily for nearly 3 years. She swears by it and loves it. Has had no problems (she cleans it and sets it up the night before going to bed and has fresh coffee waiting every morning...she cleans it thouroughly every few months or so).

She likes it better than me. :(

Bought one and returned it after about a week. The thing is a PITA to clean. The grind mechanism is pretty good as grinders go but the problem is that the ground coffee flows into the filter basket down a metal chute via gravity. Steam travels up the same way and creates a lovely sludge all up in the works and especially in the perforated metal grate that the ground coffee goes through. Another complaint is that people cannot find replacement filters for the water filter feature.

IMO, no matter how cheap, any deal on this machine is not hot.

Skip this deal altogether because of this machine is a cleaning hassle. Buy a quality conical burr grinder instead.

Solis Crema Maestro

This isn't cheap but it will save a ton of aggravation and produce a far superior product.
