Q6600/Asus P5N-D/4GB DDR2-667/Corsair 650w/GTS-250 1GB/Win7 x64
Case is an Antec SLK-3700BQE w/ front and rear 120mm fans. No hacks or additional fans, so overall heat production is a factor, even though I don't overclock.
Okay, so the question:
I use MediaCoder for CUDA-accelerated video encoding.
I want a third screen, which means Eyefinity or SLI. (I actually own the monitor, it's just been in the closet since my last secondary video card died.)
I could just drop in any old video card, GTS 420 or something maybe, but I hated having three monitors that I couldn't span. I want surround gaming! (I play a few casual MMOs like WoW and World of Tanks. Nothing too intensive. The GTS250 is more than adequate for me to game at 2560x1024, so I'm assuming I wouldn't need anything much more powerful to run @ 3840x1024, given my low standards and the lower settings I'm accustomed to.)
I don't really want to SLI since the nVidia surround supported cards list made my checkbook run and hide in the closet. I think I hear it crying.
But eyefinity capable Radeon cards can be had for a relatively modest sum. (I'm leaning towards a 6770. Opinions?)
Does anybody know if there is a free (like MediaCoder - I've found paid software, but some of it costs more than a video card would) OpenCL-compatible video encoder I could use if I bought a Radeon/Eyefinity?
