CUDA on battery power

When the power cable is unplugged the nvidia dedicated card in the laptop is disabled. Can I still use the nvidia gpu for CUDA computations. The display can run from the Integrated Intel GPU. I just need the Nvidia gpu for doing cuda computations and not visualizations.

If not is there a way to tell it to never disable the nvidia GPU via some option in the Nvidia control panel?
