Through Friday Nov. 21 at roughly Noon Eastern time, indie PC game Cubetractor is marked down to only $1.49 (from $10) at the Humble Store:

It is also 10 bucks at every other place I have found it, so this appears to be a legitimate discount.
This game won the Best Game award at Independent Games Festival China. It has some tower defense aspects to the game, but I'd say it is primarily a top down view action/strategy title.
I've been downloading and trying some independent games over the past month, and so far Cubetractor is my favorite. It reminds me a bit of Crystal Mines II on the Atari Lynx, with action and strategy/puzzle aspects. Graphics are similar to what I would have expected on the Sega Genesis 20 years ago.
I also love how the early levels slowly and surely help you to learn the mechanics of the game, much like a tutorial. I mostly got it for my kids to play, but then after installing it one night, I realized that I had been playing for nearly two hours! Based on the number of levels I played, I would estimate 7-10 hours of gameplay for most people.
It would probably make a good Christmas gift, especially for anyone who likes action/puzzle type games. I would also highly recommend it to parents who would like to develop critical thinking skills for kids.
