Hello

I just recently bought a cube case similar to this from frys
click here for a picture of the case

the form factor says mini itx and flex atx motherboards
the case only has two expansion slots

i'm interested in an athlon cpu
i'm looking for a motherboard with ethernet connections

i've searched tremendously for motherboards, but cannot find the perfect one.
please advise me on sites where i can purchase the CORRECT FIT motherboard

or

the maximum dimensions for the motherboard, in any kind of measurements

as you can tell, i'm fairly new to this 🙂
thank you very much in advance

would micro atx motherboards fit

what are some really good brands and models for flexatx and miniatx

i've never heard of tyan or soyo

TOO BIG!!!

Micro ATX won't fit, it has to flex-ATX or mini ITX. That means either proprietary or VIA-Eden boards. The Via boards are widely available but are really only for a Home Theater PC. Their performance is very limited.

Try this, its Nforce 2 but pretty expensive (199$): Linky

Question is: why didn't you just get a barebone system to start with?

i dont' know
should i return it
i'm looking for an adequate computer in a cube case, just something small

I would return it and get a shuttle or whatever... there are plenty around. The problem is getting JUST the mainboard at the moment. Sometime it may be possible to get standalone mobos from your favorite manufacturer but not at the moment, Shuttle is pretty much alone in this, hence the price for that NFORCE2 board.

Also try the Small Form Factor forum!!

EDIT: Looky here---> New Egg

Yeah, I'd return it. Look at the Shuttle barebone systems, they come with the mobo and PSU, all you need is the CPU, fan, HDD, and CDRW. If you're a gamer, put in a new video card. If you're not a gamer, make sure it has integrated video.
