CTX - DVD Rome Drive / Where to get new firmware

I have a CTX CD/DVD Rom drive that is working almost perfectly, but sometimes it will not autorun, and once in a great while, it seems to get stuck trying to read a CD or DVD.

I would like to get new firmware for it but when I go to the CTX website, the only 2 item selections for downloads are CRT and LCD monitors.

DVD drive numbers are as follows:
Model No. = DVD-8216C
Serial No. = EC23113812412

Any ides where I might find new firmware for this drive?

All help appreciated,
Herkulese

Was able to find a few CTX CD-ROM drivers @ cdrom-drivers.com, but no DVD stuff.

I don't see any info for drives branded CTX at all. Chances are it's a rebadged something. See if the label on the physical drive has any other info.

Odd; Google doesn't even have matches for "DVD-8216C", much less "DVD-8216C firmware". Weird. I wonder if it's a rebranded drive from something like Liteon or Plextor. Maybe the top of the drive itself would have a sticker that'd provide more information.

That's what i thought, but the actual sticker on the top of the drive lists it as a CTX brand drive.

Wierd, I know.

I don't know if yall will ever read this. But I have this same model # DVD-Rom and I know I purchased it from Office Max awhile ago and it was in a Digital Research box. I too cannot find any information on Google about it. If yall find any more info on this drive please let me know. Hope I have helped out somehow.

Sometimes companies will put a label over the OEM's label. Is there something you can peel off to check the actual model?

No, there are only 3 stickers on the drive. The large one with the laser info on it and all that stuff, like made in China and stuff. Then there is a long bar code and finally the model number. But that's it. I'm feeling them and I don't feel any stickers under them
