Ctrl + N in Chrome is messed up.

Using google chrome web brower. IMO superior to all others. However, when I press 'Ctrl + N' to start a new window it opens a search page with Bing and an advertisement instead of my homepage, which is google.com

I can't find anywhere in the settings to change this. The only search engine available in my settings is google.com. I have no malware and no virus. cache clearing does nothing. I don't want to re-install chrome, but if I have to then I will.

Any help? I just want it to pull up my homepage.

For whatever reason Google changed the start page (new tab) to not show Apps anymore.

At any rate, maybe the solution for that will also be the solution to your problem. New tab, new window, maybe the same.

Install New Tab Redirect Extension:

chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/new-tab-redirect/icpgjfneehieebagbmdbhnlpiopdcmna?hl=en

Set new tab to chrome://apps (or your homepage in your case)

What extensions do you have installed? Extensions can override the window that is shown on the new tab page. My guess is that you've got something installed (or that got installed without your knowledge) that's causing this.

How can anyone be surprised that Google, a company founded on making money from ads, spawns a new window with an ad.

A stock install of Google Chrome will not show a web page with Bing. Did I miss something, or were you just looking for another excuse to bash Google.

For the extensions I got:

Avast
Download Manager Beta
Google Docs
Windows Media Player Extension for HTML 5

Disabling all the extensions does nothing. Here's a screenie of the new window.
