Keeps freezing up on me... just like last time.

I do like steam though, all the little updates and patches along the way went very smoothly and quickly. Once a bug was found it was fixed quickly and automatically patched by steam.

I just wish they'd do something about this whole new release stallage BS.

It appears that the file mentioned in that thread is empty on NTFS machines, and just has whatever data used to be there on FAT32 machines.

Just read this from a post on planet mayham about the gcache file


The cache file gets created on the client using the Windows CreateFile() command. This command will create the file but not initialize it. Due to the large size of the file, we don't bother initializing the empty data blocks in it as this can take an appreciable amount of time. On NTFS machines, files created with this method happen to have the property of appearing empty (initialized to zero) but for FAT32 machines, it shows up as whatever old data was sitting on drive in the sectors that just got allocated for the cache. The people that are reporting this behavior are actually seeing old data from their hard drives.

I finish my dl off my work data lines... this thing dl like 24kb/sec.. dang slow.. took over 6 hours and crash 3 times, had to reboot pc.. and finally finish at 7pm.. it works for me...

but yeah.. WHAT A POS

I got this downloaded but it froze when it try to convert Half-Life to Steam-Life...
